The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust 1998 - 2009
The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust provides Information,
Education and Support to the people whose lives are
touched by ectopic pregnancy and the professionals that care for them.
Ectopic pregnancy continues to affect at least 1 in 80 pregnancies in the UK
with at least 20,000 admissions to hospital for life saving care
and many more being treated by early pregnancy and
emergency gynaecology units.
The number of ectopic pregnancies and deaths (approximately 5 per year)
caused by this condition has not fallen in the past 20 years
- in fact the incidence is rising.
Until the Launch of The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust in 1998
there was no body in the UK, which focused exclusively
on this relatively common condition.
You can contact them by telephoning their helpline

Support for parents and families

after birth:

ARC
ARC is the only national charity which provides non-directive support
and information to parents throughout the antenatal testing process.
Our role
is to help parents arrive at the most appropriate decision for them
in the context of their family life.
In the UK around 700,000 women will become pregnant every year and every
one of these will be offered some form of testing. As a result more than 35,000
women will
be told that there is a risk that their unborn baby may have
a serious abnormality. This will cause a great deal of anxiety and
uncertainty for the parents and their family. For most people the
pregnancy will be normal but, unfortunately, some will receive the
devastating
news that their baby has a serious, often fatal disorder or a
condition where the outlook is uncertain.

Birth
Trauma Association
The Birth Trauma Association supports all women who have had a
traumatic birth experience. We understand that, for many different
reasons, childbirth
may not be the event we planned or expected it to be.
It is estimated that, in the UK alone, this may result in 10,000 women a year
developing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Also, as many as
200,000 more women may feel traumatised by childbirth and develop some
of the symptoms of PTSD.
